A licence was sought for monitoring of enabling works and ground works during construction associated with the development of Sir John Rogerson’s Quay (Capital Docks), Dublin 2. The site is located within the zone of potential for archaeological remains associated with the historic city DU018-020. An EIA was prepared for the proposed development which recommended all excavations that are carried out in association with the construction be subject to monitoring, with specific mention to works in Block G – within the vicinity of possible quay wall. Significant disturbance has already been carried out within the area due to previous partially completed basement levels.
Works are ongoing and no archaeological finds or features have been noted to date. An updated submission will be included upon completion of works.
