An assessment (test trenching) took place of the site of a proposed single dwelling. The client, Mr Niall Gormley, has been granted Planning Permission for 1 ½ storey dormer dwelling on lands at Church Hill Garristown Co. Dublin by Fingal County Council (Planning Ref. F15A/0222). The site is beside DU003-009 and DU003-011001-005 which include architectural fragments, a church and graveyard, a tomb effigy and a whetstone. The townland of Garristown has 14 sites listed in the Record of Monuments highlighting the potential for archaeology in this area. The site is adjacent to the family farm, with frontage onto the public road and is a green field site.
Five test trenches were excavated. No features or deposits of an archaeological nature were noted.
