Testing was carried out prior to the development of a nursing home at a site on Mill Street and Sweeney's Terrace.
Testing identified that large portions of the site have been disturbed by early modern and modern building foundations and large pits. In the east of the site there was less modern disturbance than was evident across the rest of the site and in this area a more complex area of pits was identified. The pits are interpreted as being post-medieval in date and associated with the previous industrial heritage of the site, possibly related to tanning or other related activity.
