It is proposed to construct Phase 2 of the Ballydougan to Newry Strategic Trunk Mains. The trunk mains will extend from the existing pumping station at Carnbane, Newry, and terminating at the existing Newry West Service Reservoir covering a distance of approximately 3527m. Much of the route of the mains project runs along existing roads, although some short sections do cross agricultural land.
Topsoil stripping was conducted using a back-acting machine fitted with a toothless bucket. The area of the working corridor was defined by means of a wire fence with the area stripped approximately 18m wide.
No archaeological deposits were identified during the course of the monitoring.
