Monitoring involved the removal of peat to subsoil level at 43 exploratory trial pit locations across the area of the proposed development. All mechanical excavation was undertaken with a back-acting mechanical digger. In all cases a thin veneer of peat was removed onto subsoil which in general consisted of a grey silty clay mottled with weathered bedrock. In some instances the peat was removed directly onto a dark grey schist with some visible mica and quartz. All of the trial pits were on average 1.8m wide and were 3m long.

No deposits of archaeological potential were uncovered.
