Eight trenches were excavated across the proposed site of a GAA football pitch, car park and clubhouse building. A spread of blackened burnt material and broken stone was revealed in wet boggy ground extending across two trenches. The burnt spread measured 17m east-west by 10m and was 0.4m high. It lies within the northern area of the proposed pitch. It is proposed to preserve the burnt spread below the pitch which will be raised as a consequence. No other features or finds of archaeological significance were revealed.
