Archaeological test trenching on the footprint of a residential house was undertaken in a green field site located 1km to the east of Newmarket town. Local information records the potential location of a former church (CO022-220001-) and associated burial ground (CO022-220002-) approx. 100m to the south of the proposed development area. A total of eight test trenches were excavated on the footprint of the proposed development and nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
