Monitoring of topsoil removal associated with the construction of a wind farm in the Boggeragh Mountains was carried out between April 2014 and March 2015. The development consists of the construction of 26 turbines, ancillary structures, four borrow pits, one permanent meteorological mast, one substation, upgrading of existing roads/access tracks, underground cabling and provision of new access tracks and new entrances onto public roads and all associated infrastructure. It involved ground disturbance in the form of topsoil and peat removal in the areas of new proposed access roads, turbine bases and hard stands, which were all monitored. No archaeological finds, features or deposits were uncovered during the course of the monitoring.
