The site was stripped using a rubber tyre machine using a flat bucket. The layer of humic organic material and topsoil was removed in layers to expose the underlying subsoil. The driveway, house foundations and septic tank area were topsoil stripped. The layer of humic material and topsoil had a maximum depth of 0.26m. The topsoil was a moist light grey brown clay and had a medium density of small stone inclusions. The topsoil was uniform in colour, compact, composition and texture across the site. The underlying horizon was a mottled grey blue silty sand which was compact with a medium density of stone inclusions. The subsoil was uniform throughout the entire site. The underlying rock unit group of the site and the surrounding landscape is Devonian Old Red Sandstones (DORS). The primary soil type for the area around the proposed site is Acid Brown Earths and Brown Podzolics, which is derived from the sandstone tills associated with DORS deposits. No archaeological material was noted in the site.
