Monitoring of topsoil stripping associated with flood relief measures in the vicinity of the river Fergus and the river Fergus minor were undertaken in May-June 2015. Ground disturbance in the area of Fíor Uisce housing estate (ITM 534166 679023), to the south of the river Fergus minor, revealed made-up ground and fill material below the existing ground level. The third edition Ordnance Survey map indicates that this was the location of a railway track that has since been removed. Monitoring for a length of 400m and c. 5m in width was undertaken in this area. To the south of the River Fergus, and immediately west of Aughanteeroe housing estate (ITM 533398 679015), an area 100m in length and c. 10m in width was stripped of topsoil revealing nothing of archaeological significance.
