Pre-development testing was undertaken as part preparation of an Archaeological Impact Assessment with respect to a proposed Free Range Poultry House together with all ancillary structures and associated site works at Killyfana, Redhills, Co. Cavan. The assessment was prepared in compliance with the Grant of Planning for the development. The possible locations of a bawn (CV011-02201) and an enclosure (CV011-2202) are c. 100m to the east of the development area; there are no surface traces of these monuments.
The testing, comprising the machine excavation of 14 trenches of varying lengths and orientations across the development site, did not reveal any sub-surface features, deposits or structural remains of archaeological interest and/or potential. Likewise, no artefacts of archaeological interest were recovered.
