An archaeological evaluation at the site of proposed Hydro Electric power scheme at lands to east of Church Hill Road, Lambeg, Co. Antrim was carried out in advance of development, in response to a request for more information from DOE : Historic Environment Division under Planning Policy PPS6 BH3. The proposed scheme is located within close proximity to Lambeg Church, ANT064:042, of medieval ecclesiastic origin.
Test trenching within the footprint of the proposed hydro turbine intake channel, turbine house and tail race was carried out. This revealed that this area contained up to 1.75m of infill material with no archaeological deposits having been identified.
