An archaeological evaluation was carried out prior to the proposed construction of a residential development at 31, 33, 35 and 41 Main Street and 1,3, 5 and 7 Atlantic Avenue, Portrush.
In order to retain planning permission for the site, a single foundation trench was excavated within the area of the Market Street frontage. The trench measured approximately 3m x 2m and was excavated using a back-acting machine fitted with a toothless bucket.
No evidence of archaeological deposits were uncovered during the course of this evaluation.
