An archaeological evalaution was carried out prior to the Phase 3 construction of a residential development at Hartley Hall, Jordanstown. Previous monitoring of topsoil removal was conducted for Phases 1 and 2 of the development prior to construction commencing under licencesAE/09/218 and AE/13/134. The archaeology within Phase 1 consisted of isolated or small, loose clusters of subsoil-cut features. Upon closer examination it was determined that there was a total of 17 pits, a large spread, a post-hole, gully and trough. Phase 2 produced further archaeological remains. The primary remains identified consisted of a Bronze Age house with associated gullies, while the remainder of the deposits consisted of isolated pits and gullies of undetermined date.
For this phase, a total of 7 test trenches were excavated across the site. No archaeological remains were found within any of the trenches.
