An archaeological evaluation was carried out prior to the proposed construction of a residential development on lands 85m south of 25 Harberton Park, Belfast.
This evaluation concerned Phase 1 of the proposed development. Two trenches were excavated along the length of the site. The upper stratigraphy within both consisted of a layer of extremely compacted hardcore with a typical depth of 0.4m. For the most part this gave way to naturally occurring subsoil and where this was the case, the subsoil consisted of a compact, orange, plastic clay.
No archaeological deposits were identified during the course of the evaluation.
