An archaeological evaluation was carried out prior to the construction of a residential development on lands at 102 Malone Road, Belfast. Phase 1 of the works were carried out under licence AE/14/123 with the project being completed under licence AE/15/215.
Phase 1 of the works focused on the insertion of a single house foundation. The purpose of this was to retain the planning permission for the site. Two test trenches were excavated using a back-acting machine fitted with a toothless bucket. No archaeological deposits were identified within any of the trenches.
Phase 2 of the works consisted of the completion of the test trenching across the remainder of the site and a total of 4 trenches were excavated using a back-acting machine fitted with a toothless bucket. No archaeological deposits were identified within any of the trenches.
