The development site lay adjacent to ANT 052:058, Holy Well, and one of the two possible locations of the medieval Spittal House hospital in Carrickfergus. Initially a full topsoil strip of the area had been proposed but when works started it was clear that there had been severe disturbance and filling of the site so trenching was employed instead. Nothing of an archaeological nature was uncovered.
