The remains of a late 17th-century, undershot vertical-wheeled watermill were uncovered during drainage works. At the request of the NMS, the site was surveyed and the remains of the millpond, a substantial timber-lined dam, the upright posts of a timber-lined headrace, the stone base of the mill and the channel of the tailrace were identified and recorded. A number of large oak timbers uncovered during the drainage works were also fully recorded before being reburied on the site. They were likely part of the base of the wheelpit and were dated by C14 and dendrochronology to the last decade of the 17th century.
