Testing, monitoring and excavation was carried out in advance of development at a site on South Main Street in January and February 2014. Prior to development the site was mostly occupied by standing buildings. A series of large medieval rubbish pits was uncovered and excavated. The pits contained animal bone, shell and medieval pottery.
