Monitoring was undertaken at Cheekpoint, Co. Waterford between 3 February and 8 April 2014 for MEIC Ltd in association with Glan Agua Ltd, on behalf of Waterford County Council. Much of the development travels along existing roadways. However greenfield areas and the intertidal zone of the River Suir were also affected. The following locations were subject to monitoring: the west side of the development, where the scheme travels through a green field area, Power’s Field; the east side of the scheme, the pumping station, and pipe trenches connecting to the outfall all located in a greenfield area along the quay, known as The Green; the south-east of the scheme in a greenfield area known as Dobbyn’s Field; the north side of the scheme, from the new Lower Quay to the outfall route within the intertidal zone of the River Suir.
No archaeological features or deposits were revealed during the monitoring of the development works.
