An archaeological evaluation was carried out prior to the construction of a 5-turbine wind farm at Crockdun, Co Tyrone. A number of recorded monuments were located within the perimeter of the proposed development site: TYR 027:029, TYR 036:023, TYR 036:028 and TYR 036:029.
Monitoring involved the removal of peat at 36 exploratory trial pit locations, as well as 1 pit excavated for plate testing, across the area of the proposed development to subsoil. All mechanical excavation to subsoil was undertaken with a back-acting mechanical digger fitted with a toothless bucket.
No deposits of archaeological potential were uncovered.
