An archaeological evaluation was carried out prior to the proposed construction a 5-turbine wind farm at Gortfinbar, Carrickmore, Co. Tyrone.
Phase 1 was concerned with the monitoring of all enabling works. These required the reduction in height of a grass verge along the Whitebridge Road, the creation of a turning circle for large vehicles in the field bounded by the Whitebridge Road in the east and the Tursallagh road in the north, a short extension to the existing concrete access road and the construction of a substation. All works were conducted with a mechanical digger fitted with a toothless bucket.
No archaeological features were uncovered during this evaluation.
