The proposed site of a slatted shed was located adjacent to a protected structure, known as Ballyquirk Castle (S69), and also approximately 200m to the south of TN004-030—-, castle/tower house, also known as Ballyquirk castle. The green field site was bounded by farm outbuildings and a farmyard along its western half and fields elsewhere.

The stratigraphy consisted of the topsoil, which was a mid-brown clay silt with an average depth of 0.25-0.3 (min 0.09m at west and max 0.42m centrally), located on top of a mid-orange clay with occasional various sized rounded stones (in one or two locations boulders did appear, indicating the presence of the bedrock close to the stripped level). Nothing of an archaeological nature was encountered during the monitoring.
