This area of features was revealed during preliminary monitoring for construction of a windfarm for An Bord Gais. Once exposed the features were recorded and excavated. The linear features had dimensions of 7.5m x 1.4m x 0.37m, 3.54m x 0.72m x 0.13m, 7.8m x 0.7m x 0.13m and a partially exposed linear feature had a length of 1.5m. The figure-of-eight kiln was 5.2m long, the firing chamber was 1.8m, the flue 1.1m, the drying chamber 1.3m and it had an average depth 0.45m. The remains of a nail were found within the second linear feature. Samples were obtained and wheat grain was identified within an upper context from the kiln. It was dated to 1039-1220 AD (OxCal 13 95.4%).
