The broad shallow pit was exposed during monitoring of construction of a wind farm for Bord Gáis. The dimensions were 1.35m x 1.18m x 0.13m. The pit was excavated; no artefacts were present. The pit contained two contexts: the upper was compacted light brown silty clay with mottled orange and ash throughout, while the lower context contained friable charcoal-filled sand. Analysis of the charcoal retreived and identified burned hazel which led to a date range of 11 BC–88 AD (OxCal13 95.4%).
