Monitoring for the construction of a windfarm revealed a burned spread, which upon excavation also revealed an associated trough – dimensions 1.45m x 1.2m x 0.6m. The trough had remains of wickerwork sides and a planked base. No finds were recovered. Samples were examined and comparable material was found from secure contexts (alder wood). The alder wood was dated and was found to be 2132-2058 BC (trough) and 2084-1921 BC (burned spread). Both dates are calibrated OxCal 13 95.4%.
