Two pits were revealed during monitoring for the construction for services for a windfarm. The first was 0.9m by 0.75m in subcircular form. It had 3 distinct layers with charcoal included in the upper and base layer. The second pit was 0.82m by 0.64m and subcircular in form. It also containned three layers with charcoal inclusions of varying proportions. The middle layer in the second pit yielded enough identifiable charcoal to retreive a date range of 6390 to 6216 BC (IntCal13 95.4%). The surrounding context of the pit was oxidised, indicating the contents were deposited within the pit while still hot. This lends a secure date for the deposition of the middle layer and use of the pit. No artefacts were found in connection with the pits.
