This curvilinear pit measured just over 2m in length and was 0.1m wide. It was exposed during monitoring of construction for a windfarm. It was fully excavated. This pit contained three contexts—the general fill of heat-affected soil, a discreet context of charcoal-rich soil and within the general fill a lens of charcoal. One artefact was found within the charcoal—a small milky quartz tanged point 17mm in length. It had been retouched and its point was fractured—indicating use as possible engraver or drill point. The charcoal was examined and yielded a hazelnut shell which was dated to 1684–1527 BC IntCal 13 (95.4%). The material was a secondary deposit with no indication of in situ burning. Human activity occurred within this location at this date, but the pit itself may be dated somewhat later.
