The feature consisted of a discreet pit and stony fill with a small burnt spread to the immediate east. These were exposed during monitoring of construction for services to a windfarm. The area was cleaned by hand and then fully excavated. No artefacts were found but samples were removed from each available context. Specialist analysis and extraction of available material produced willow charcoal from the fill of the pit in suffucient quantity for a secure date. This was reported as 1046 – 1121 AD (IntCal13 95.4%). There were no ancillary or immediate archaeological material to extrapolate any narrative apart from the date indicating the antiquity of the pit.
