Further to the discovery of a hoard of 17th-century gold coins, an assessment was carried out at the site including a metal detection survey. Seven test trenches were excavated across the footprint of the development site, including one trench along the area of the find spot. A gold guinea dated 1685 was recovered from this test trench along with several other later coins including a "Conder" token dated 1792. All other finds associated with the assessment date to the post-medieval period. No other structural elements were encountered in the course of the test excavation.
