The installation of a new drain and septic tank/percolation area for Ballytarsna Castle was monitored in September 2014. Stripping topsoil from the new percolation area exposed a late ditch and plough furrows post-dating the use of the bawn, and opening a long trench for a surface water drain exposed the fills of a number of ditches, some or all associated with the post-medieval townland boundary.
No medieval or early post-medieval pottery was recovered, and no evidence for buildings.
