An archaeological assessment of a site on the Hill of Skreen was prepared to accompany a planning application for the construction of a dwelling house with associated works. The site is situated on the summit of the Hill of Skreen; the area is designated as a ‘deserted settlement’ ME032-047. Five test trenches were excavated. Nothing of archaeological significance was observed. Some sherds of 19th-century white earthenware and fragments of animal bone were recovered from black topsoil. The deep deposit of fill which was exposed in Trench 3 was not considered to be part of a ditch but rather a possible quarry back-fill or a natural slope away in ground level.
