Drumard 4 comprised an Early Bronze Age burnt mound (003) and a partially surviving early medieval timber platform (004). The final evaluation of the findings of the excavation suggests that the site  represents two phases of activity. Radiocarbon dating of a fragment of ash charcoal taken from the burnt mound material (003) returned an Early Bronze Age date of 1940 – 1768 cal BC (2σ) (UBA-26941). Radiocarbon dating of an ash brushwood sample taken from the wooden platform returned an early medieval date of cal AD 990 – 1145 (2σ) (Beta-388033). The excavation was undertaken between 22 May and 5 June 2014 in advance of the construction of the N59 Rossow Bends Scheme, Co. Mayo, which extends from Deerpark East townland located to the north of Westport, to Murrevagh townland to east of Mulranny Village.
