Testing was carried out at Doylesfort Road, Dundalk, County Louth on the site of a proposed single dwelling on foot of a further information request from Louth County Council following an application for outline planning permission. The site is beside LH007-093, a souterrain discovered during the construction of a single house in 1969.
The site was assessed by Donald Murphy and Jon Stirland on 19 March 2014. Two trenches were excavated across the footprint of the proposed dwelling and driveway by a mechanical excavator. The topsoil was removed onto a yellowish clay gravel at 0.5-0.7m. No features or deposits of archaeological significance were identified and no finds were recovered.
