Test trenching was carried out at the proposed location of a new housing development at Farrandreg, Dundalk, Co. Louth in response to a request for further information from Louth County Council. A recorded monument (LH007:034 souterrain) had previously been identified within the site boundary (Excavations Ref: 1999:607). Ten trenches were mechanically excavated within the site. No new archaeological material was identified. The souterrain will be preserved in situ within the development site.
