In 2014, a second phase of test trenching of a plot of land bounded by Athlunkard Street, Sheep Street and Meat Market Lane demonstrated that archaeological deposits (perhaps including some relating to a tannery and dating from at the latest the mid-13th to mid-14th century AD) are present across the entire site. This archaeological horizon may be as much as 2.8m deep and lies 0.8-1.0m below street level. A timber structure (perhaps a fence line) was also identified.
