Trial trenching was carried out at the site of a proposed development of four detached houses in Barna village. The site is bordered to the east by a narrow watercourse, Truskey Stream, the northern limit of which is believed to have been the site of a slipway or quay, known as Poll Mór. An Bord Pleanála requested that a site assessment be carried out to investigate the possible slipway. Eleven trenches were excavated and nothing of significance was found.
