An archaeological evaluation was carried out prior to the proposed construction of a residential development on land South of Laurelvale Court, Rossorry, Enniskillen.
The evaluation consisted of the insertion of a single foundation trench for the first dwelling within the site, located at the north-east corner of the development area.
The trench following the line of a bay-windowed foundation was inserted by a back-acting machine fitted with a toothless bucket. Topsoil was removed from the trench to a depth of approximately 0.9m. This consisted of a loose dark brown gritty loam and directly overlay subsoil which was a compact orange/brown clay with frequent rock inclusions.
No evidence of any archaeological deposits was identified within the excavated trench.
