Monitoring of groundworks in advance of a new cemetery was undertaken at Ballycorus Road, Kiltiernan, Co. Dublin. There are no recorded monuments within the site, which borders a mill race that is part of an extensive mining and manufacturing complex (Ballycorus Mining Company, DU026-117) located in two locations, east and south-east of the proposed works. The mill race was protected during the construction phase by the erection of a post and rail fence and the maintenance of a 10m buffer zone along the stream thus preserving the line of the race within the site. Topsoil was mechanically excavated under supervision and was 0.3-0.4m deep (max) and overlaid compact brownish yellow clay subsoil. No archaeological finds or features were were recorded.
