The development involved the construction of a two-storey primary school on a site measuring approximately 3.237 hectares. Planning permission was granted by An Bord Pleanála requiring archaeological monitoring to be carried out of all groundworks.
Monitoring revealed topsoil, varying from 0.3m to 0.5m in depth, sealing geologically deposited strata across all of the site. Modern north-south and east-west-running stone drains were noted extending across the western end of the site, and they were on average 0.3m wide x 0.3m deep. No stone drains were noted in the eastern end of the development area.
No archaeological features or artefacts were revealed as a result of monitoring.
