The aim of this project was to establish if any remains of the lost village of ‘New Comber’ (DOW010-061) still existed within the confines of the development site and to assess the risk both to development and to the remains themselves from development. It is clear that no evidence was uncovered for this 17th-century village, either in the form of existing settlement features or artefactual material. The trenching did show that large parts of the site have already been heavily disturbed, or destroyed, by more recent construction and development on the site.
