It has been proposed to develop the c.0.9ha greenfield site at Leirg an Dactáin, Teelin, Co. Donegal, on behalf of Donegal County Council, to consist of the construction of a Transport Hub/Visitor Centre. The proposed development primarily comprises the provision of 90-100 car parking spaces and 4 coach parking spaces, with associated playground for children up to the age of 8 years, on-site wastewater treatment system and a visitor center and transport hub with approximately 270m2 floor area and associated storage shed (8m x 4m).
Pre-development test trenching was undertaken on 23–24 October 2014 at the proposed Teelin (Sliabh Liag) Transport Hub/Visitor Centre in the townland of Leirg an Dactáin. A total of c.430m of linear trenching, comprising ten trenches, was excavated within the area of proposed invasive groundworks.
No archaeological features, remains or deposits were identified during the test-trenching evaluation works.
