Monitoring took place of site investigation works associated with the Passage-Monkstown Network, a component of the Cork Lower Harbour Main Drainage Scheme. Thirty-six slit trenches, test trenches and bore holes were excavated under supervision on public roadways along the proposed route of the pipeline.

A possible quay wall was identified at Mentone Villas. The wall which has an east-west orientation measured 0.95m in width and was exposed to a height of 0.65m. The base of the wall was not revealed. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and bonded with a coarse lime mortar. Three more walls were also recorded during the course of SI works. All three were of sandstone rubble construction with no evidence of mortar bonding.
