Monitoring of ground works (including site investigations) associated with the Conna Regional Water Supply Scheme improvement works was undertaken between January and June 2014. Monitoring of topsoil removal associated with the reservoir site and associated access road in a green field site south-east of Conna village was undertaken. No archaeological finds, features or deposits were uncovered in the green field site. Both the excavation of site investigation slit trenches and the subsequent excavation of the pipe trench crossing Conna Bridge (RMP CO045-032) were also monitored. The arch stones of the bridge were exposed during pipe laying (mainly at 0.3-0.35m in depth), which were then covered with polythene and terram before the insertion of pipes. No damage to the structural integrity of the bridge occurred as a result of the ground works.
