Topsoil stripping associated with the construction of a single house was subject to monitoring in September 2014. The site was in a rural location in a field of rough pasture with topsoil typically 0.25-0.4m thick overlying light whitish grey clay glacial till.
The SMR demonstrates that the area around the development site was occupied during prehistory and the early medieval period. Although the site lies on the edge of a small settlement and is accessed from a 17th-century road (CL017-023), no archaeological features or objects were observed during the monitoring.
