Test trenching of land proposed for a burial ground extension was carried out in March 2014. The site lies adjacent to a medieval church and graveyard (CL050-036001, 002).

Five test trenches, each 20m long and 1.8m wide, were excavated, some targeted at geophysical anomalies (14R002, Leigh 2014). The stratigraphy of all the trenches was 0.3-0.5m of topsoil overlying naturally deposited yellowish brown and greyish brown clay glacial tills with gravel patches and occasional outcropping of shale. The geophysical anomalies generally corresponded with outcropping bedrock.

No archaeological features or deposits were encountered.
