Aisling Collins from ACAS (Aisling Collins Archaeology Services) has been appointed by IAC on behalf of Bord Gais Networks to carry out an underwater archaeological assessment of the area to be impacted upon by the proposed river improvement works.

The site is located at the crossing of the Madlin River, Co Carlow in the townland of Moanduff adjacent to Old Leighlin.

The Madlin River has meandered at the location where it passes over the existing Cork—Dublin gas pipeline, and Bord Gáis Networks (BGN) want to ensure the safety and integrity of the cover to the pipeline.

No archaeology was identified.
