An archaeological evaluation was carried out prior to the proposed construction of a mixed-use development at 26-30 The Square and 2-4 Cornmarket Street, Tandragee. The proposed development site is located within Tandragee historic core (ARM 014:022).
A series of 4 trenches were excavated within the development area to ascertain whether there were surviving subsurface archaeological remains. In all trenches a single mixed layer of topsoil and modern building material was removed. This material had a maximum depth of 0.2m and directly overlay naturally occurring subsoil.
No evidence of any archaeological features was identified during the course of the evaluation.
