An archaeological evaluation was undertaken prior to the proposed construction of a two-storey dwelling with a garage at Dornan’s Road, Ballinderry Lower, Lisburn.
This license was issued only to carry out the excavation of the garage foundations. The garage covered an approximate area of 17m north-west/south-east x 8m and is located along the north-east edge of the site. The foundations were excavated using a back-acting toothless bucket. The evaluation confirmed that the area appeared to have been stripped of topsoil in the past to the level of subsoil and then covered in a thick layer of quarry gravel.
No archaeological deposits were identified during monitoring.
