The test trenching was undertaken in advance of a planning application as NIEA had raised concerns that a potential important archaeological site may be affected by the development. This site is described as a D-shaped enclosure on the Sites and Monuments Record; current proposals show the access road crossing its location. The results of the investigation were negative and the site was not found to be present at the SMR marked location (ANT 051:098).
